The Allegheny Group of the Sierra Club is a volunteer led group – our members are what make the work we do possible. We are one of nine regional groups across the state that help the people of Pennsylvania explore, enjoy, and protect our state's many environmental resources and fight for safe and livable communities.
Allegheny CleanWays runs Thursday-Monday cleanups along land and water across Allegheny County, plus the GrateKeepers program (storm-grate maintenance), StepKeepers (public-step cleaning), corporate Group Cleanups, and tools to host Self-Organized Cleanup events with planning checklists and waivers. 40,000+ volunteer hours logged.

Starting at $5 a month, Riverlife Crew is our convenient monthly giving program. Choose a donation amount that fits your budget and support Riverlife year-round.
The Pre-apprenticeship is a program in partnership with Pasa Sustainable Agriculture for those who have little or no growing experience but are interested in exploring a farming career. This is a two-year program, where participants will volunteer four hours per week on our farm sites doing a variety of farm tasks and receive a share of vegetables as well…
Join us at either Shiloh Farm or Braddock Farms for an early Saturday morning volunteering project May-October. Help out with the farm tasks, take a tour with our staff and finish out your productive morning by shopping at the farm stand.

If your organization is looking for a wild way to spend a day of community service, look no further.
Volunteers play a major part at Powdermill Nature Reserve, the museum’s environmental research center in the Laurel Highlands. Volunteers help with mailings, data management, summer children’s programs, trail grooming, and cleanup days. Volunteers also assist in a variety of ways at our bird banding station.
Pittsburgh Center for Creative Reuse (PCCR) is a creative-reuse retail nonprofit diverting craft and art supplies from landfills (similar mission to Construction Junction's building-materials reuse). 30+ shop volunteers organize, sort, bag, and clean incoming donations; education volunteers support workshops and family events.
Tree Pittsburgh volunteer program — Tree Tenders Program. Tree Tenders is Tree Pittsburgh's flagship multi-week certification course training community members in tree biology, identification, planting, and care. Graduates are equipped to organize neighborhood plantings and lead local tree-care projects.
Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania volunteer role — Grounds and trail maintenance. Help with grounds and trail maintenance at Beechwood Farms Nature Reserve, Succop Nature Park, Buffalo Creek Nature Park, and Todd Nature Reserve.

Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania volunteer role — Beechwood Conservation Corps. Do you like getting your hands dirty? We need you to help us make Beechwood even more bird-friendly! BCC participants adopt and steward sites for at least one year, committing to visit their site at least four times during that time.
Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania volunteer role — Volunteer Naturalists. With training and support from ASWP, volunteer naturalists lead field trips at Beechwood Farms Nature Reserve, Succop Nature Park, and Buffalo Creek Nature Park.
