Homewood Children's Village AmeriCorps Mentor

Homewood Children’s Village (HCV) is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of Homewood’s children while simultaneously reweaving the fabric of the community in which they live. Through collaboration, engagement, and advocacy, we offer a continuum of direct services and learning support for children and their families, from cradle to career, working diligently to address the complex challenges facing Homewood’s youth. HCV AmeriCorps Mentors (hereafter referred to as members) contribute to this mission by serving directly in classrooms, providing small-group and one-on-one academic support in reading and math, mentoring students, and helping to redirect behaviors in alignment with school-wide expectations. Members play a key role in fostering a positive learning environment by building relationships with students, assisting teachers, and supporting school-wide initiatives and events. Through their service, members help schools improve student outcomes in academic performance, behavior, and attendance.
