We are excited for our fall programs to begin, but since we just wrapped up a 6 week summer camp for 97 kids, we need to clean, organize, and reset! This is an opportunity best for teams of people who love to find order in the chaos and care about kids having safe spaces to learn, grow, and be loved!
The Open Door has a Rec Center with a gym floor, a stage, and 2 side rooms. We also use several areas at a big church building a block over. Our programs for grades K-12 include After School Homework Help, Tutoring, Open Gym, Arts & Crafts, LEGO club, Gaming club, Youth Group, and more. As a nonprofit, we offer everything completely free or very low cost, and we never turn away someone who isn't able to pay. Everything we do - including the salaries of our 2 dedicated employees - depends entirely on grant funding and private donations. Volunteers are the essential people that make it all come together to serve children and teens!
We're looking for volunteers to spend a few hours doing a deep clean and reset of our facilities. There are paint spills to remove, craft supplies to organize & inventory, books to catalogue, chairs & tables to clean, walls to touch up with paint, a storage area to set up, and many many donated items to sort.
