Artist Talk: "I am made to leave I am made to return"

In “I am made to leave I am made to return,” artists Susy Bielak, Fred Schmalz, and Aaron Henderson draw upon the University of Pittsburgh’s Nationality Rooms and the University Library System (ULS) Archives and Special Collections to offer dynamic and speculative reflections on nationality, heritage, migration, and belonging. The installation considers how archives preserve cultural memory while remaining open to interpretation. Together these works invite us to reimagine what a library can be in the twenty-first century.
