Chamber Orchestra of Pittsburgh presents Like the Wind
On November 7, 2026, 7:30pm, at St. Andrew’s Church in Highland Park, The Chamber Orchestra of Pittsburgh will perform an all-winds concert, titled “Like the Wind,” to celebrate the wonderful woodwind and brass sections of the ensemble. This concert achieves two consistent goals for the organization, providing Pittsburgh audiences with rarely heard repertoire, and presenting diverse ensembles in live performance. The program features two recognized masterpieces that rarely see the stage, Mozart’s Gran Partita and Dvorak’s Serenade for Winds. Both works are celebrated for their artistry and textures, crafted from the distinct wind ensembles that are required. Because of the instrumentation, both works are rarely performed, and COP is delighted to bring them to Pittsburgh audiences with this performance.“These pieces are just incredible,” says Artistic Director and Conductor Edward Leonard. “And yet the only place most people may have heard them is in the soundtrack for the movie Amadeus, since the Gran Partita is playing in the moment when Salieri is recalling his first meeting with Mozart. This work and the Dvorak are just treasures.”Single tickets are $35 for adults if purchased in advance and $15 for students. Subscriptions and single tickets are available online at www.copgh.org.The season has been made possible in part through the generous support of the Heinz Endowments, The Opportunity Fund, the Pittsburgh Foundation, and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.
