September 11: 25th Anniversary Prayer & Remembrance Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Downtown Pittsburgh will mark the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks with a morning of prayer, the ringing of the Cathedral bells, and a noon prayer service. Beginning at 8:46 a.m., the time American Airlines Flight 11 struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center, the Cathedral Nave will open to the public for prayer and quiet reflection. Throughout the morning, the Cathedral bells will ring at six moments marking the events of September 11: 8:46 a.m. — Flight 11 strikes the North Tower 9:03 a.m. — Flight 175 strikes the South Tower 9:37 a.m. — Flight 77 strikes the Pentagon 9:59 a.m. — South Tower collapses 10:03 a.m. — Flight 93 crashes near Shanksville, Pennsylvania 10:28 a.m. — North Tower collapses At 12 noon, the Cathedral will hold a simple service of prayer and remembrance, remembering the 2,977 people killed in the attacks, honoring those who responded and served, holding in prayer those who continue to carry the loss of that day, and praying for peace. Trinity Cathedral has historically served as a gathering place for Pittsburgh during moments of civic mourning, including following the September 11 attacks.
