Men Without Hats
Montreal new wave band Men Without Hats pairs synth-driven pop with Ivan Doroschuk’s distinctive baritone. Their 1982 hit “The Safety Dance” became an international calling card, while “Pop Goes the World” extended their run of memorable, buoyant pop in the late ’80s. Both songs were inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2020. The group’s melodic, keyboard-led sound helped make its biggest songs enduring touchstones of the new wave era.
