Co-presented by The Frick Pittsburgh and Rivers of Steel, this special program investigates the lasting impact of the 1892 Homestead Lockout and Strike, 134 years after that fateful July. Begin the morning with an exploration of the Pump House, a rare access experience to discuss the events of July 1892, including the deadly conflict between workers and Pinkerton agents, followed by a guided tour of Carrie Blast Furnace to understand the realities of the Pittsburgh steel and iron industries. Next, travel to The Frick Pittsburgh for a deeper investigation of Henry Clay Frick’s relationship to labor and his decisions during that summer on a custom tour of Clayton.Advanced registration and pre-payment required. Program begins at the Pump House, 880 E. Waterfront Drive, Munhall PA 15120; participants are responsible for their own transportation.
