Speaker: Claudia de Rham (Imperial College) Title: The Graviton pole as a probe of Fundamental Physics, at least “In Theory” Abstract: Can low-energy physics reveal properties of the underlying UV completion of quantum gravity? I will discuss the subtle interplay between the consistency of high-energy physics and their low-energy implications, and how that interplay can in theory be reversed to infer properties of physics at energies far beyond the reach of any foreseeable experiment or observation. Finally, I will discuss what it could actually take to detect a graviton, at least “in theory”.
