Welcome Back Party

Celebrate the start of the academic year at the Welcome Back Party, a reception for everyone engaged in AI and data science at the University of Pittsburgh. This gathering brings together researchers, instructors, students and practitioners from across disciplines to reconnect after the summer and welcome new members into the community. With casual conversation, complimentary drinks and light refreshments, the event makes it easy to catch up with old collaborators and meet new colleagues who are tackling interesting problems in machine learning, data analysis, ethics, visualization and beyond. We're structuring this as a mini open mic session, where orgs, teams, groups, or individuals can take up to 5 minutes and one slide to share what they're working on this semester. It's a great way to get visibility for your work, find potential collaborators, and let the broader community know what you're up to. Reach out to the HAIL team if you'd like a slot. It's a great place to find mentors, recruit student team members, or simply get a pulse on what's happening across campus this year. The evening is relaxed and accessible — drop in when you can, stay as long as you like, and introduce yourself to someone you haven't met before.
