Through perspectives from Carnegie Mellon University faculty and industry leaders, the rotating series examines how generative AI is reshaping data and prediction, AI literacy, immersive media and games, film and authorship and workforce development. No technical background is required. Each session is 60 minutes on Zoom, including time for audience questions. Topic: From Story to Experience: Immersive Media & Game Design Games and immersive experiences do more than display information: they invite people to act, explore and make choices. This session introduces the building blocks of interactive experience — goals, rules, feedback, narrative, environment and audience agency — and asks how technical possibility becomes emotional impact. A short design exercise maps a user journey to the moment when an experience becomes memorable. No specialized software is required; the session is about ideas, storytelling and experience design. Speaker: Johannes DeYoung — Associate Professor of Electronic and Time-Based Media, School of Art, College of Fine Arts, Carnegie Mellon University This event is organized by the Department of Languages, Cultures & Applied Linguistics (LCAL) and sponsored by the InnoGen Fund and CETIC.
