Supporting Student Well-Being: Faculty Professional Development in Recognizing & Assisting Students in Distress
This session combines 30 minutes of asynchronous work in FocusU with a 90-minute, in-person presentation. Upon completing the training, faculty should be able to (1) articulate key findings about the CMU student mental health experience, (2) describe the vital role of faculty in supporting students, (3) identify the appropriate methods to assist students, and (4) describe the available support resources on campus. Please note that this training is one of three options that faculty can complete to fulfill required training on student mental health and well-being. As part of CMU’s ongoing commitment to student mental health and well-being, all faculty members are expected to complete professional development focused on recognizing and supporting students in distress. Faculty may choose from the three training options listed on the Counseling & Psychological Services website. For more information, please refer to Provost Garrett and Dean Caselegno’s message to faculty.
