After his sudden death, local wrestling community pays tribute to Andy ‘The Butcher’ Williams

Towards the end of Enjoy Wrestling’s fifth anniversary, and final, show at Mr. Smalls Theater on Sat., Sept. 5, Andy Williams, also known as “The Butcher,” collapsed after a tag team match. Staff doctors performed CPR and used an automated external defibrillator on Williams until he was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. Williams died tragically on Saturday night, leaving a void in the hearts of wrestling fans everywhere. The 48-year-old appeared as “The Butcher” in All Elite Wrestling matches and played guitar for the band Every Time I Die.  Local wrestler Casey Dalsass was in attendance for a seminar led by Williams the night before he passed. “It was my first time meeting Andy and Jesse [Guilmette, Williams’ wrestling tag team partner],” Dalsass says, “The Butcher and The Blade. It’s the environment that I was trained in and that is a very punk rock ethos, but if someone in your community falls, you pick them right back the fuck up.” It’s no surprise, then, that the community quickly came together to pay their respects. Michael Young of 880 Wrestling dedicated their Thurs., Sept. 10 show to “The Butcher.” Fans and friends packed the Warehouse in Allentown to pay tribute to the late wrestler.
