From CV to Resume: Framing Your Experience for Industry

CVs and resumes both do the work of organizing and describing our experiences and skills. However, the audiences for these documents differ in important ways that impact how we frame and spotlight our experiences. In this interactive session with the CPDC, we tackle the art and strategy of shrinking your multi-page CVs into 1-to-2 page resumes that are concise yet compelling, stay true to your expertise, and share your story with an industry audience. We will look at examples of this type of genre conversion, and use job descriptions as a lens for selecting how to describe certain experiences. For Masters and Ph.D. students in Dietrich.
