The Screen Novel: Storytelling Through Digital Interfaces

The Screen Novel is an experimental form of digital storytelling that uses everyday digital interfaces—such as text messages, emails, notifications, maps, and social-media posts—as part of the narrative itself. Rather than simply illustrating a story, these fragments become the space through which characters, events, and emotions unfold. In this introductory bilingual creative-writing workshop, participants will explore the possibilities of the Screen Novel through examples, discussion, and a guided writing exercise. The workshop will be presented bilingually in English and Arabic, and participants do not need to speak Arabic to attend.
