Join the Department of PM&R for a monthly-invited lecture in the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation. Topics will be of interest to our Residents, Fellows, and Post-docs, but the event is open to trainees and faculty of all departments. September's topic: Unlocking Circuits and Designing Cross-species tools for Pain Discovery and Therapeutics Presented by: Rebecca Seal, PhD Rebecca Seal is a Professor of Neurobiology and Otolaryngology in the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Research in her lab aims to understand how the various forms of persistent pain, across diverse pathological conditions, traverse the spinal cord with the goal of targeting the spinal cord to treat chronic pain. The lab employs a range of approaches in both rodents and primates and is pioneering non-invasive gene therapy. Dr. Seal is a Rita Allen Foundation Scholar and a Brain and Behavior Foundation Scholar and is Chair of the Pain Research Forum at the International Association for the Study of Pain, an active member of the Society for Neuroscience, and a co-Director of the Pittsburgh Pain Consortium. She previously served on the organizing committee to create the US Association for the Study of Pain (USASP) and served on the Board of Directors of USASP.
