Indigenous Arts in Practice

Diné pianist and musicologist Renata Yazzie will perform piano works by Navajo (Diné) composer Connor Chee and lead a guided listening session to musical works by various Indigenous artists. Alongside the live music and listening, CMU Mechanical Engineering professor Trevor Jones (Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Ojibwe) will lead a beading workshop. Part of the “(Un)Welcome: An (Un)Gathering” Symposium presented by The Center for the Arts in Society Light refreshments will be provided. Registration is appreciated but not required.
