The Edith Balas Lecture ft. Dr. Rachel E. Perry

Decades before Art Spiegelman’s Maus, Holocaust survivors created graphic narratives of what they witnessed and endured under Nazi persecution. This talk introduces eight works made by young Jewish women between 1944 and 1949. Working across different countries and in different media, with different levels of artistic training and audiences in mind, they all turned to visual storytelling to represent their own histories of suffering.
