RCR: Introduction to Proofig AI: Protecting Image Integrity in Life Sciences Research
Ends:
TBD
The Clinical and Translational Science Institute's (CTSI) Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Center serves as a resource for researchers at the University of Pittsburgh. Our objective is to provide education so that you can learn to effectively recognize and avoid research misconduct and understand the resources that are available to support your research. Presented by Ansuman Chattopadhyay, Ph.D., Director Molecular Biology Information Service, Health Sciences Library System
Participants will learn how Proofig AI analyzes scientific figures, how to interpret flagged results, and how the tool can help researchers assess image integrity before submitting manuscripts for publication. (subject matter: research misconduct)
Upon completing this class, you should be able to:
Recognize image integrity challenges — Identify common issues in scientific images, including duplications, manipulations, and AI-generated content.
Use Proofig AI effectively — Upload manuscripts, run analyses, and generate integrity reports to review image quality prior to submission.
Evaluate and validate flagged findings — Assess issues identified by Proofig AI and use its forensic tools for deeper investigation.
