Informal Conversations on Research (ICOR) Series with Katharine Burns

Katharine Burns, associate professor of second language acquisition and Hispanic studies, will explore how Universal Design for Learning can advance linguistic justice in language teacher education (LTE) and create more inclusive learning opportunities for multilingual, heritage and non-heritage learners. In particular, it centers on how the three principles of UDL (Engagement, Representation and Action & Expression) could be integrated into LTE from a linguistic justice perspective and in the context of the multilingual turn. This instructional design approach has the potential to reduce linguistic barriers, thereby benefiting all learners.
