Extreme weather preparedness is becoming increasingly necessary in Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh continues to top lists of the best places to live with minimal natural disaster risk . But excessive heat, tornadoes and flash flooding seem to be more prevalent with each passing year. Last week, thunderstorms caused flash flooding and power outages around the region. The National Weather Service called the storms a “1 in 100 year event” in a news release on Friday, Sept. 4.  These increases in extreme weather events coupled with aging infrastructure are changing our “Most Liveable City.”
