Join us on Wednesday, October 7th, at 12:30pm (room TBD) to learn about internship opportunities and an overview of careers with the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO). We will be joined by 4 SPIA alums who are analysts at GAO: Maire Gebhard - MPIA '22 Josh Timko - MPIA '22 Hannah Bisbing - MPA '23 Matthew Whalen - MID '22 What is the GAO? GAO is a nonpartisan, independent agency that works for Congress. GAO examines how taxpayer dollars are spent and provides fact-based information to Congress and the public, usually through reports and testimonies. Our reports include recommendations to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the federal government, and our work saves billions of dollars each year. Comprised of around 3,500 employees, our headquarters is located in Washington, DC, and we have offices in 11 other major cities across the United States.
