Carnegie Mellon Philharmonic: Halloween at Heinz Hall

The Halloween-themed event includes spooky standards like Modest Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain (conducted by CMU Philharmonic Associate Conductor, John William Brink ) and Paul Dukas’ The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. The concert will also feature wizard of the keyboard, Tino Cardenes (current Music and Technology student of the School of Music and winner of the Philharmonic Soloist Competition, undergraduate division) performing Nikolai Kapustin’s jazzy Piano Concerto No. 2. The heart of the program is Manuel de Falla’s magical El Amor Brujo, which includes the famous “Ritual Fire Dance.” This performance will feature recent graduate of the School of Music, mezzo-soprano Isabelle Hoyou. Kids are encouraged to come in costume and arrive early for pre-concert fun in the lobby.
