Research Talks with Block: Scaling Distributed Healthcare Systems

Ends:
Hamburg Hall, Executive Education Suite
Free
How can health systems expand access to hospital-level care beyond traditional hospital walls? Join us for a lunchtime conversation with Block Center Fellows Holly Wiberg and Peter Zhang, who will share new research on the opportunities and challenges of Hospital at Home care, particularly in rural and underserved communities. Their research examines how to determine when Hospital at Home and other distributed healthcare systems are logistically and economically viable, and how these models can be designed to work across geographically dispersed communities. The conversation will also explore how engagement with rural health providers can help translate these models into practical approaches for healthcare delivery, infrastructure investment, and reimbursement policy. Event Details: When: September 24, 12:30–1:30 PM Where: Hamburg Hall Executive Education Suite Audience: Primarily geared towards Master’s students, but open to faculty, staff, and other members of the CMU community Food: Coffee and Pastries! Discover how AI and optimization can help health systems rethink where and how hospital-level care is delivered and build more accessible, resilient, and equitable healthcare systems.
