Bethlehem Haven provides shelter and supportive services for women experiencing homelessness in Pittsburgh. Volunteers help prepare and serve meals, lead activities and workshops, assist with special events, and provide companionship to residents.
# Volunteer
East End Cooperative Ministry could not operate without the help of volunteers in every service and program we provide. Every day, we rely upon selfless volunteers who give their time, their energy, and their talents to help their neighbors.
This internship works with families experiencing financial hardship in need of utility assistance. The internship will include working with the CAP team, providing financial and tangible assistance as appropriate, attending community pop-up events (with a full time Catholic Charities team member).
Transitional housing for men over the age of 50 years old. The internship provides experience working with clients to find stable housing. During the field placement interns will hold appointments with clients creating individualized service plans, assist with applications, and working towards other mutually agreed upon goals.
Working with families that have a current pregnancy, a child in the home under two, or a child in the home over two and experiencing financial hardship. This internship also provides experience coordinating volunteers, completing documentation, and providing financial and tangible assistance to clients enrolled in the program as appropriate.
For masters level students, semester or year-long internships focused in psychoeducation and supportive counseling contexts are available.

Help deliver Christmas gifts to families who have limited transportation within Allegheny County. Catholic Charities provides over 2,000 gifts to families in our services region.
Criminal and Child Abuse clearances are required in order to deliver gifts. They can be obtained at no cost and are good for five years.

Our Sandwich Blessing program welcomes groups to prepare a sandwich meal offsite and drop it of at St. Joseph House of Hospitality. Sandwich drop-offs are Saturday before 3pm and Sunday morning before 12pm.
Sandwich meals need to be prepared in an approved commercial kitchen, and each meal should be wrapped in its own brown bag.
Our Hot Meal program welcomes groups to prepare a hot dinner offsite and drop it off at St. Joseph House of Hospitality on Saturdays for their dinner served at 4:30pm. Groups are welcomed to stay and serve the meal to the residents. Meals need to be prepared in an approved commercial kitchen. Groups are welcome to serve the meal.
Catholic Charities is looking for an individual to lead our Family Christmas Plan program in Allegheny County. This individual will empower 15 to 20 families to develop an individualized plan for the holidays. This individual will meet weekly with families and review topics including budgeting, stress management, creating Christmas traditions and more.
Deliver boxes of baby items and other basic items needed from our downtown office to client homes within Allegheny County through no-contact deliveries. Most deliveries are on Thursdays or Fridays. Criminal and Child Abuse clearances required. They can be obtained at no cost.

Looking for individuals to volunteer as a Kindness Kitchen Volunteer and help serve breakfast, lunch, or dinner to the residents while spreading a little bit of joy to the men we serve at St. Joseph House of Hospitality. Dedicate as a little as one hour per week and make a lasting impact to the St. Joe’s residents. Parking located onsite.
