Open Hand Ministries is a Pittsburgh home-repair and affordable-homeownership ministry based in East Liberty/Highland Park (616 N. Highland Ave). Volunteers rebuild vacant houses into owner-occupied homes for local families through recurring construction workdays (First Saturdays, Third Saturdays, Weekly Workday Wednesdays); prepare and serve meals at Tuesday evening community meetings and provide childcare (child-abuse clearance required); provide office and technical support (social media, database cleanup, research); and mentor program Team Leaders working toward homeownership. Great fit for skilled-trades volunteers, church groups, and anyone interested in affordable housing.
