This spring and summer, nearly 250 volunteers from 12 corporate partners joined the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy to care for parks and green spaces across the city. Together, these teams rolled up their sleeves to remove invasive plants, plant native species, spread mulch, maintain trails and gardens, collect litter, and support restoration projects that make Pittsburgh’s parks healthier, more beautiful, and more welcoming for everyone.
From neighborhood parks to major restoration sites, corporate volunteers made an impact in 10 parks and public spaces , including Emerald View Park, Schenley Plaza, Hays Woods, Frick Park, August Wilson Park, Grandview Park, Riverview Park, Mellon Park, Spring Hill, and Allegheny Commons.

Each volunteer event supported important stewardship work tailored to the needs of a particular park or landscape.
At Emerald View Park, volunteers from FedEx removed invasive plants, completed supplemental plantings, collected litter, and performed trail stewardship tasks to prepare restoration areas for future growth.
At Schenley Plaza, Giant Eagle’s team spread 24 yards of mulch around the carousel gardens—the first volunteer group ever to complete this project—helping protect native plants and prepare the beds for the growing season.
For the third consecutive year, Thermo Fisher returned to Hays Woods for an Earth Day service project, continuing stewardship efforts at the Agnew Road Trailhead.
At the Frick Environmental Center, volunteers from WTW weeded landscape beds, installed plants in the From Slavery to Freedom Garden , and cared for trees and green spaces, creating more room for native plants to thrive.
Later in the summer, S &B interns helped manage invasive plants in the FEC’s Clayton Hill restoration area.
At August Wilson Park, FNB volunteers helped create the park’s first sensory garden by planting, mulching, weeding, and improving pathways to make the space more accessible and inviting.
At Grandview Park, EQT volunteers weeded, edged, mulched, and planted native and pollinator-friendly species in the park’s garden beds.
More than 50 volunteers from Koppers joined Parks Conservancy staff at Riverview Park to remove invasive plants, water over 1,000 annuals, spread mulch, and support litter cleanup efforts throughout the park.
Volunteers from Braskem cared for landscape trees in Mellon Park through mulching and maintenance activities.
Deloitte helped keep the Spring Hill neighborhood clean through litter removal and neighborhood stewardship.
At Schenley Plaza, Stantec volunteers removed approximately 40 gallons of weeds and completed detailed landscape maintenance throughout the gardens.
In Allegheny Commons, DLC interns mulched landscape trees along the promenade, supporting the long-term health of the park’s urban canopy.
