Create opportunities to build your experience and attract employment. The Career Design Workshop Series is a sequence of in-person one-hour professional development workshops for graduate students. The workshops are designed to address doctoral and postdoctoral fellows’ career goals beyond academia by engaging in discussions and activities that help them plan and start implementing their professional goals. The series will occur in the Cathedral of Learning every Tuesday in June 2026. Content is geared toward doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows; however, professional and master's students are welcome to attend. Weekly Schedule: June 2 (1-2 p.m.): Finding Meaningful Work Identify skills, interests, and values that will guide career exploration and decision-making. June 9 (1-2 p.m.): Designing Experiential Opportunities Create opportunities to build your experience and attract employment. June 16 (1-2 p.m.): Translating Your Skills to Employers Translate academic and research experience into employer-ready language that position you competitively. June 23 (1-2 p.m.): Networking for Newbies Develop a networking strategy that works for you, gives you confidence, while expanding your connections. June 30 (1-2 p.m.): Creating a Toolkit for Tackling Interviews Practice answering the most common interview questions and develop a framework for talking about yourself.
