Volunteers Needed at the JCafe Lunch Program!

Looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community?

The AgeWell Department at the Jewish Community Center (JCC) in Squirrel Hill is looking for friendly, reliable volunteers to help with our JCafe, a congregate meal program serving older adults.

JCafe roles include:

  • Helping members sign in
  • Serving meals to our members
  • Assisting members with their trays and cleanup
  • Creating a warm and welcoming environment for everyone who joins us

Who We're Looking For:

We'd love volunteers who enjoy working with people and helping others feel welcome! Experience in customer service, hospitality, or other people-facing roles is a plus. Strong communication skills, patience, a friendly attitude, and the ability to navigate challenging interactions with kindness and professionalism are especially valuable. Most importantly, we're looking for people who enjoy connecting with others and contributing to a positive, supportive environment.

The JCafe is about more than just a meal. It's a place where older adults can connect with friends, enjoy good food, and feel part of a community. Our volunteers play an important role in making that experience possible!

Time Commitment:

The JCafe operates from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with volunteer shifts going from 10:45 AM to 1:15 PM. We're looking for volunteers who can help on an ongoing basis, but how often you volunteer is up to you! Whether you'd like several regular weekly shifts, prefer to only be contacted when we need extra help, or something in between, we'd love to have you.

Required clearances must be completed before volunteering.
