United Way's Meal Kit Packing - Day 2 — Meal Kit Packing

United Way of SW PA volunteer opportunity — Meal Kit Packing. Date:09/23/2026 05:30 PM - 09/23/2026 08:00 PM

Agency:United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania

This is a family-friendly volunteer opportunity. Volunteers age 16 and older should register online individually. To register a child under the age of 16, please contact Liam Watters.

Packing Team members verify the shopping list and carefully pack food items into each meal kit box. Attention to detail helps ensure every family receives the correct items.

Distribution Team members use carts to transport completed boxes from packing stations to quality stations and then to pallets for distribution. This is a physically active role that requires frequent bending, lifting, and moving boxes throughout the shift.

Finishing Team members perform a final quality check, add recipe cards, and securely seal each box before it is prepared for distribution.

Supply Team members keep the packing lines running efficiently by building boxes, replenishing food supplies at packing stations, and breaking down cardboard throughout the event. This role requires frequent movement, lifting, bending, and carrying items.

Support Team members provide assistance wherever it is needed most and will be assigned a role on the day of the event. This is a great option for volunteers who are flexible and willing to jump in wherever they can help.

Please note: This event relies on the full participation of every volunteer. Please register only if you can attend the entire shift and actively participate in your selected role.

The event will take place at the David. L. Lawrence Convention Center in downtown Pittsburgh. Information on parking options will be sent via email prior to the event. United Way is unable to reimburse for any parking expenses.

United Way strives to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals, including individuals with disabilities, to engage fully. To request an accommodation or for inquiries about accessibility, please contact Naomi Swartzbaugh, naomi.swartzbaugh@unitedwayswpa.org or 412-456-6704.
