Family Volunteer Day — Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank

Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank volunteer program — Family Volunteer Day. From ages six years and up we have fun and rewarding activities for the whole family! []: Required

Four times per year, we host family volunteer days. These two-hour Saturday volunteer sessions are open to children as young as six years old. We plan kid friendly activities in our warehouse such as packing food for our backpack program or working with produce from local farms. Every volunteer session is followed by a group tour of our facility to teach kids about food insecurity in our community and how they can help. []: Required

We also have a variety of activities that your family can get involved with year-round! Children as young as 12 can help rescue produce on local farms through our gleaning program or collect donations at Santa’s House during Peoples Gas Holiday Market. Children as young as 12 can help pack boxes and sort produce in our warehouse’s Volunteer Engagement Center Monday through Friday. And volunteers as young as 15 years old can help at our drive-up distributions and on the Food Bank farm in Chatham. All volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. []: Required
