Pennsylvania Mountain Service Corps AmeriCorps

Pennsylvania Mountain Service Corps (PMSC) AmeriCorps partners with local schools, non-profit organizations, and government agencies to address critical needs in education, environmental stewardship, and community wellness. PMSC AmeriCorps members provide direct service to benefit the people, land, and water across a 15-county region in Southwest and South Central, PA--getting things done to bring out the very best of PA and of America.

Member Duties : In Pennsylvania's public schools, PMSC members provide literacy and math intervention and enrichment to PA learners in grades K-12. Members engage children and families in opportunities for service and learning—improving school climate and building healthy relationships so that students grow and thrive to their fullest potential. On PA's public lands, PMSC members steward trail systems, remove invasive species, stabilize stream banks, plant native trees and other species, maintain trails, and clean up illegal dumping. Along PA's public waterways, PMSC members collect water quality data, patrol for illegal dumping, improve water quality, and upgrade aquatic habitats. PMSC members serve Pennsylvania's children and adults in housing, food, and mental/physical health crises—mitigating negative long-term effects.
