Compass AmeriCorps

Compass AmeriCorps

Compass AmeriCorps seeks applicants who are passionate about learning from and providing service to people from many countries with varied backgrounds and experiences. Our mission is to help connect people in need to available social services, to work with them to increase access to services, and to be a connecting force for agencies that provide these services. Service sites primarily serve immigrants and refugees.* Compass AmeriCorps members will primarily focus on two key priority areas: increasing employability (through job placement services, jobs skills development, and/or reducing barriers to employment), and assisting clients in accessing health services. AmeriCorps members do not provide health services related to prohibited items. Members will serve full-time for 11 months. A member's service will include daily service at the member's placement site, as well as team-based semi-monthly Friday trainings, and community service projects during evenings and weekends. Member responsibilities may include English Language instruction, job placement support, employment skills training (including workplace behavior/soft skills training), health services support (including coordinating physical health services and health literacy), and high school equivalency test instruction, coaching/counseling, social services support (including access to housing, legal services, and transportation services), recruiting/managing volunteers to provide direct service to clients, translation/interpretation services, and community outreach. We seek applicants of varied backgrounds and strongly encourage qualified individuals who represent the richness of our shared humanity to apply. *While service sites may primarily serve immigrants and refugees, Compass AmeriCorps members may provide services to all eligible individuals regardless of background.
