Volunteer with Berkeley Hills Volunteer Fire Company (Station 247)

Do you have the desire to serve,

the ability to perform,

and the courage to act?

If so, you belong at the Berkeley Hills Fire Company, where commitment meets opportunity at the cutting edge of emergency response.

Since 1942, we’ve been more than just a fire company. We’re a launchpad for future leaders in emergency services, a second home for those seeking purpose, and a team united by service. Whether you’re ready to live the life of a first responder or support the mission behind the scenes, you have a place here.

Why Join Berkeley Hills?

Real Experience. Real Impact.

At Berkeley Hills, we don’t just train — we respond. Our consistently staffed station means members gain hands-on experience on real emergency calls, building confidence through action.

Professional Training at No Cost

From Firefighter 1 to EMT, EVOC, HazMat, and officer-level courses, you’ll receive comprehensive, nationally recognized training — completely free.

Educational Support

Eligible members can apply for scholarships, including the Fire Vest Scholarship, to pursue an associate degree in Fire Science.

Our Live-In Program

Live at the station. Learn from the best. Serve your community. Our Live-In program offers free housing, immersive training, and the chance to build experience while living where you serve. Participants commit to 40 hours of duty weekly and must earn their Firefighter 1 certification within a year. EMT certification is encouraged but not required.
