Volunteer at Our Amazing Place
At The Children's Institute, volunteers play a vital role in all of our programs. We are proud of the individuals, groups, organizations, and corporations who choose to give their time and abilities to help others. The time they contribute and the help they provide are an amazing gift to the children and families we serve.
By becoming a Pittsburgh volunteer, you are integral to the work we do and are truly a part of our mission:

We are now accepting volunteers for our Day School. There are openings in our various classrooms. Volunteer hours are Monday thru Friday 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. throughout the school year. We ask our volunteers to commit to at least one day a week for a min of 3 hrs. If you would like to join our amazing volunteer team, please click to fill out our Volunteer Application.
Individual Volunteer Opportunities
We have a variety of Pittsburgh volunteer opportunities that are sure to fit your interest such as:
- Supporting our educational service team in The Day School through in the classroom, special events and arts and crafts
- Assisting administration/institutional advancement with event planning and donor stewardship
- Helping our physical health team with sessions and equipment cleanup

Group, Organizational, and Corporate Volunteer Opportunities
Your group can make an impact by assisting with the following:
- Events hosted by The Day School such as Special Olympics
- Events hosted by Family Support Services such as our holiday gift drive and Growing Families Through Adoption (GFTA)
- Fundraising events
- Assisting with organization of donated goods for our amazing kids and families

Volunteer Requirements
- At least 18 years of age
- Criminal history check
- Child abuse clearance
- FBI fingerprinting (Volunteer code 1KG6ZJ - For those over 18 years of age)
- Child abuse reporter training
- Sign Confidentiality Agreement
- Attend Volunteer Orientation Session
