Third Eye Blind’s drummer says the band was inspired by a Warhol Museum visit

The cover of rock band Third Eye Blind’s 2018 album Thanks for Everything was directly inspired by a visit to the Andy Warhol Museum. Brad Hargreaves, who has been the band’s drummer since they became famous in 1995, stopped by the museum with the band while on tour in Pittsburgh. “[Warhol’s] nephew happened to be there, and we asked if we could use this skull painting for our album cover, and he was like ‘yeah, no problem,’” Hargreaves tells Pittsburgh City Paper. “It was through visiting the museum and enjoying a day off and some art that we ended up getting to use one of Warhol’s paintings.” Thanks for Everything by Third Eye Blind Third Eye Blind (often abbreviated to 3EB), along with rapper Nelly, will be stopping by Pittsburgh again for an appearance in the Commonwealth Concert Series on June 27 at Point State Park. The event is a five-city, statewide celebration centered on Pennsylvania and coinciding with events feting the 250 th anniversary of the United States. Despite representing two different musical genres, Third Eye Blind has played with Nelly (famous for hits like “Country Grammar,” “Ride Wit Me,” and “Hot in Herre”) before at a show at Boston College. “It was the loudest show I’ve ever heard in my life; it was just incredible,” Hargreaves says. Duijsens At their concert later this month in Pittsburgh, 3EB will be playing hits like “Semi-Charmed Life,” “Jumper,” “How’s It Going to Be,” and “Never Let You Go,” as well as album cuts and newer music, too. With the appearances by Nelly and 3EB, the concert series seems to be jumping on the recent wave of ’90s nostalgia surging in popularity. “I’ve always heard that things move in cycles, and fashion kind of moves that way,” Hargreaves says. “Honestly for us, it’s been a slow build because we’ve never stopped working; we’ve gone out year after year and stayed in the cultur
