Tuning In - The Neon Vanadium Album Release Show

Join Neon Vanadium, Herald's Goose, Porters, and MISSING! at the Mr. Smalls Funhouse July 25th for what will be an incredibly immersive night that you won't soon forget. So, what is Neon Vanadium? Neon Vanadium is a deeply ambitious, almost cinematic Pittsburgh rock band with a focus on storytelling, atmosphere, and emotional weight. Unafraid to be weird, experimental, or heavy. The band was formed by brothers Cameron and Logan Balkovec in the summer of 2020. Cameron played rhythm guitar and sang, while Logan played drums. They'd been playing together for almost a year at that point and wanted to take it further. Jacob Maxeiner was brought in later that fall to play lead guitar, and the trio became the foundation of Neon Vanadium. They started gigging late 2021, playing an elaborate array of covers as well as some of their own music. Soon, they gained a small following that really enjoyed what they did. They had bass players come and go, occasionally had a saxophone player as well, but no one was permanent until Matthew Kustra auditioned for bass in May 2022. Later that fall, Mason Coulter joined to play a song with the group before becoming an official member March 2023 to play saxophone and piano. They took a much different approach to their music from then on, giving the songs more thought and room to breathe and grow. Releasing a single that year, and an EP the following year to give their fans the music they deserve. Mason had to leave the band at the end of spring 2025 but was able to record his parts for their upcoming debut album. The band has ambitious plans for the future, and they cannot wait to continue this dream.
