The Pittsburgh BBQ and Bands Festival takes place Thu., July 2-Sun., July 5, at Monroeville Convention Center, delivering what a press release describes as four “national award-winning rib and BBQ vendors,” live entertainment with “top tribute bands,” and a vendor market. The event coincides with Monroeville’s Independence Day festivities, which include a parade starting at Miracle Mile Shopping Center and fireworks near the Convention Center. Tickets cost $5 in advance and $8 at the gate, or $29 for a VIP pass that includes admission to all four days of the event, VIP premium parking each day, VIP seating for band performances, and front of the line access to buy ribs. Utz, a Hanover, Pa.-based manufacturer of salty, crunchy chips, pretzels, and more, used Censuswide to collect data on the country’s snacking habits, including preferred chip flavors. And the nationwide winner is (drum roll please) … Original? Huh. However, if a map produced by Utz reveals anything (see below), it’s that snackers in the Pittsburgh region are privy to barbecue. But we all know the real winner is Utz Cheese Balls. Utz also announced two limited-edition flavors for the summer — Lemonade and Ripples Sizzling Summer Burger.
