Bonnie & the Mere Mortals: Fringe Country - Presented by Women of Country PGH
Fringe Country is a night of fem-lead country music, from traditional to those on the Fringe. Bonnie & the Mere Mortals will open the night with a set of her incredible gothic Americana originals and Roberta Faceplant will take the stage after to burn the house down with her signature honky-tonk style. THAT'S NOT ALL FOLKS, because at the end of the night they're forming a supergroup to perform a set of classic covers. We're going to support fem artist playing their own music and we're also going to pay tribute to the women in country who have paved the way. When you hear fringe do you want to wear something classic or do you want to live on the outskirts of the traditional? All dressings, styles, tastes, people are welcome. Proceeds to benefit the nonprofit of Roberta Faceplant's choice, Women's Law Project. She reconciles this dichotomy in her music, and doesn’t seem to find any difference in them: infectious hooks, guitar with too much reverb and a little tremolo, catchy bass lines, and introspective lyrics that tell a sad story… is it Hank or the Cure? Does it matter? Bonnie & the Mere Mortals is a project that equally sounds like something you’ve never heard before and something you’ve been hearing your whole life. A genre bend that draws you in, but is as easy on the eyes as it is on the ears. A project that’s pretty sure Hank done it this way, but Robert Smith was on the money as well, and that’s no problem. A live show that is just as at home with an introspective elegy as a barn burner. An aesthetic that is just as much classic Nashville as it is glam. Blending the earnest songtelling and excitement of a 70s Era Grand Ole Opry performance wi
