Formed in 1988, VIOGRESSION rapidly established itself as a dominant force in the death metal underground through a series of highly acclaimed and influential demo recordings, before releasing its seminal debut album Expound & Exhort (1991). The record’s widespread critical success secured the band a world tour supporting Death and Pestilence. The sophomore album Passage (1994, Progressive Records) was issued in an incomplete form, prompting a nine-year hiatus. VIOGRESSION reunited in 2003 and resumed writing, culminating in the release of the A Pure Formality EP (2014, Temple of Darkness Records). Undeterred by the global events of 2020, the band delivered its long-awaited third full-length album, 3rd Stage of Decay (2022), co-released by Satanath Records and Moribund Records. On July 11, 2025, VIOGRESSION released its fourth studio album, Thaumaturgic Veil – a powerful and sophisticated work that combines classic death metal brutality with intricate metaphysical themes and exceptional technical execution. Critics have praised it as one of the most ambitious and progressive death metal releases in recent years. Current lineup
