A mixed bill for the enlightened yet forlorn... Scrum Force Brake Run Zone Farmer Bruise Bath Philadelphia is a cavern of abject poverty, obvious corruption, and grim desperation. Bruise Bath is the sound of having your eyes held open as you witness it all. Zak Krone started this project as a study in isolation and cathartic grief, drawing from the bleakest corners of Slint, Mount Eerie, and the homeless shelters where he served. Today, it’s a six-person assault of shrill guitar amps, delicate vocal harmonies, and a pummeling rhythm section. Daniel Merchant (baritone guitar), Gab Landrum (vocals / sampling), Jackson Miller (drums), Nick Shellenberger (bass), and Aaron Pekar (guitar / vocals) have joined this burgeoning cult to worship at the altar of dread and hope. It is a sound defined by despair, but approached with a calculated, clear-eyed intensity. This is noise, stripped of theatrics and left with only the weight of understanding.
