Two local nonprofits are helping to combat childhood hunger in Pittsburgh. Starting Tue., June 9, and continuing through Aug. 18, North Hills Cares and the Millvale Community Library are hosting a free summer lunch program open to all youth 18 and under. The initiative strives to supplement meals that would otherwise be provided during school hours. Free lunch hours at the library are held 12-1:30 p.m., Tuesday through Friday. Youth attendees require an adult. Registration is recommended but not required.

A Latina woman-owned business serving authentic Mexican street cuisine is moving into a brick-and-mortar shop. On Wed., June 10, El Colibri will host the grand opening of its Wilkinsburg location after serving the community through farmers markets, pop-ups, catering, and a ghost kitchen, according to a post on its Instagram page . The event starts at 11 a.m. and will include a piñata-breaking ceremony, giveaways, and more.
