Melinda Colaizzi shines as the front-woman of Melinda and the Night Sky, an American rock and blues band born in Pittsburgh, PA. Featuring her songwriting partner and guitarist Kristian Habenicht, the group builds a foundation of funk into the earth so Melinda's voice can soar. Just as The Rolling Stones came in the wake of Muddy Waters, Melinda and the Night Sky pick up where Janis Joplin and Tina Turner left off. You'd be forgiven if the band made you think of Daisy Jones & The Six... but unlike that fictional band, MATNS is real. The band has shared the stage with iconic acts like the legendary B.B. King Blues Band, Sue Foley, and Lez Zeppelin, and in 2020 Melinda and the Night Sky collaborated on an exclusive beer with North Country Brewing, which won the prestigious ARTBREW award. A staple of 91.3 FM WYEP's radio rotation, Melinda and the Night Sky round out their sound with bassist Mike Ekis, drummer Dennis Garner, Skip Sanders on keys, and Marc Reisman on harmonica. The band regularly features the BGVs, a background vocal trio of Katy Cotten, Delana Flowers, and Carmen Miller. Melinda is also the Founder of Women Who Rock™, an organization which has united some of the biggest female stars in music to raise funds and awareness for understudied women's health research. "If you've ever wondered what it would be like to have Janis Joplin and the Rolling Stones combined to form one artist, look no further than Melinda." — Blues Rock Review
