About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer with strong expertise in medium-voltage (MV) and low-voltage (LV) electrical system design for industrial facilities and process plants. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in Oil & Gas, petrochemical, chemical, or power generation projects, preferably within an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) environment.

The candidate will be responsible for developing and reviewing electrical engineering deliverables, performing power system calculations and studies, preparing equipment specifications, and supporting projects through concept design, FEED, detailed engineering, procurement, and construction phases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, review, and approve medium-voltage (5 kV–35 kV) and low-voltage electrical system designs for industrial facilities and process plants.
  • Prepare electrical engineering deliverables, including Load Lists, Feeder Lists, Single-Line Diagrams (SLDs), cable schedules, wiring diagrams, and interconnection diagrams.
  • Perform cable sizing, transformer sizing, CT/VT sizing, load calculations, grounding calculations, tray loading, bus duct sizing, battery sizing, and UPS calculations.
  • Conduct power system studies, including short-circuit analysis, load-flow studies, protection coordination, relay setting calculations, and harmonic analysis.
  • Design and specify MV switchgear, motor control centers (MCCs), transformers, protection relays, bus ducts, DC systems, and UPS systems.
  • Develop electrical layouts for substations, transformer yards, switchgear rooms, equipment rooms, cable trays, cable raceways, grounding systems, and indoor/outdoor lighting.
  • Prepare technical specifications, equipment datasheets, material take-offs (MTOs), bills of quantities (BOQs), and bills of materials (BOMs).
  • Review vendor quotations and technical submissions and prepare technical bid evaluation reports.
  • Support lighting system design, grounding and lightning protection, hazardous-area electrical design, and fire alarm and communication systems as required.
  • Prepare and review 2D electrical drawings and support 3D electrical layouts, panel layouts, cable tray routing, and clash detection.
  • Conduct feasibility assessments and engineering design reviews to finalize appropriate technical solutions.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, consultants, vendors, suppliers, contractors, and construction teams.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, standards, project specifications, and industry best practices.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 9+ years of relevant experience in electrical design engineering for industrial facilities, process plants, or power projects.
  • Strong hands-on experience in MV/LV electrical power distribution systems.
  • Experience with Oil & Gas, petrochemical, chemical, refinery, power generation, or other industrial EPC projects.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical equipment, including MV switchgear, MCCs, transformers, bus ducts, protection relays, and UPS systems.
  • Experience preparing electrical calculations, engineering drawings, equipment specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Working knowledge of applicable electrical codes and standards, including NEC, ANSI, NEMA, UL, and NFPA 70E.
  • Ability to develop engineering deliverables from scratch and manage multiple project activities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical, communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

Software Skills

Experience with one or more of the following tools is desired:

  • Power System Analysis: ETAP, SKM PowerTools, EasyPower, PSCAD.
  • Electrical Design and Drafting: AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN.
  • Electrical Engineering Design: AVEVA Electrical, AVEVA Instrumentation.
  • Lighting Design and Analysis: DIALux, AGi32.
  • Other Tools: CompuTrace for electrical heat tracing and Microsoft Office, including Excel.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working in multidisciplinary EPC engineering environments.
  • Hands-on involvement in FEED, detailed engineering, procurement, and construction support.
  • Experience with MW-scale industrial/process plant, energy, power generation, transmission and distribution, or Oil & Gas projects.
  • Familiarity with hazardous-area electrical design, SCADA/SAS architecture, protection and metering SLDs, and electrical communication systems.
